Privacy policy

What we collect

• Your quote - the device and the condition answers you gave.
• Contact details - email address, and your phone number if you choose to give it.
• Order details - your name and postal address (so we can return the device if you decline an offer), and your payout details so we can pay you.
• Device records - serial number or IMEI, intake photos and inspection notes. We keep these as a due-diligence trail for second-hand goods.

Why we're allowed to hold it

• Most of it is needed to perform our contract with you: quoting, shipping, inspecting, paying.
• Serial/IMEI checks and transaction records are a legal obligation and legitimate interest - we must be able to show devices were lawfully acquired.
• Marketing messages only ever go out on your explicit consent. Order updates, your quote and re-quotes are service messages about your own transaction, not marketing.

Texts and emails

If you tick the SMS box we record the time you consented. You can opt out at any time by replying or emailing us, and we act on it immediately. We never sell your details.

Cookies, measurement and advertising

A few cookies are strictly necessary - they keep you signed in and hold your quote while you fill it in. Those are the only ones set before you choose.

Everything else waits for the banner. Say yes to measurementand we count which steps of the quote flow people finish, so we can fix the ones they don't. Say yes to advertisingand we can see which ads brought people here, which is how we stop paying for the ones that don't work. Say no, or ignore the banner, and neither runs: the tags load switched off and no advertising cookie is written.

If you allow advertising, we share a one-way scrambled (hashed) versionof your email address with Google and Meta so they can confirm a click led to a sale. They cannot read your address from it, we never send the address itself for advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's cookies, and the banner will ask again.

Who else sees it

Only the suppliers who make the service work: our email provider, our carriers, our payment route, the stolen-device checking service, and - if you agreed to advertising - Google and Meta for the measurement described above. They process data on our instructions. We don't sell your data.

Your device's contents

Please factory-reset before sending. Every device is securely erased on arrival and we record a wipe certificate. We do not browse, copy or retain the contents of any device.

How long we keep things

Transaction and due-diligence records are kept for six years, which is the standard UK retention period for business records. Quotes that never became orders are kept far more briefly.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we're not required to keep it. Email hello@techdosh.co.uk. If you're unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
